Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Charles Sparks was born on December 31, 1965, in the city of Omaha, Nebraska. He has an older brother and a younger sister who died in the year 2000. He moved to many different cities as a kid before finally staying in Fair Oaks, California. He was an excellent athlete and was accepted into the University of Notre Dame, with a track scholarship.
After getting injured from running in a relay, in which he broke the school record, he began to write his first novel, which was not published. In the year 1989, Sparks married his wife Catherine and wrote his second novel that same year, although it wasn't published either, like the first book. In the next few years, he worked at various types of jobs before collaborating with Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills to publish a book in 1990.
The Notebook was written in the year 1994 and published in October 1996. Following that, he published many more works including Message in a Bottle and The Lucky One. The movie for The Notebook was released in June 2004, featuring actors Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. The Lucky One was released as a movie on April 20, 2012 with actor Zac Effron playing the main character.
Sparks contributes to many charities, including the Creative Writing Program at the University of Notre Dame, where he studied for college. He opened up The Epiphany School in New Bern and worked as a track and field coach there. He now lives with his wife and kids in North Carolina.
